Whether you’re embarking on spring break travels to the beach (lucky you!) or not, a beachy hair look is hot-to-trot this spring and summer. And if you have natural waves or curls, it’s even easier to achieve with the right products in your back pocket. 

Keune Regional Educator and Academy Trainer Carrie Juhasz-Horton tells us how to get beach hair with five of her favorite Keune products. Carrie’s top picks help you or your clients rock an au natural style, and also help protect strands from the harsh elements like sun, salt water and chlorine if you are enjoying some fun in the sun this season. 

1. BLEND Salt Mousse 

“It creates volume and definition for waves and curls, and the product’s salt ingredient give the hair that straight-from-the-beach look that everyone loves,” says Carrie.

How to use it: 

Apply a generous amount (one palm full for short to mid-length hair, two palms full for long hair) to damp hair. Apply it from the roots to the ends. Either diffuse hair with a blowdryer for maximum volume, or scrunch and air dry for a beachier effect.

2. BLEND De-frizz

“I love this product because it is so versatile. It can be used to define curls and tame frizz, for a smooth blowout with bounce, for heat protection, and to tame flyaways on dry hair. Defrizz’s versatility makes it a perfect product to take on vacation!” Carrie explains.

How to use it: 

Apply a dime- to quarter-sized amount to damp hair, scrunch it for curls and waves or blow-dry the hair smooth. Next, apply a pea-sized amount to dry hair to tame down flyaways. Emulsify it with your hands first, and then scrunch it into curls or lightly smooth over straight locks for a polished finish.

3. Design Curl Cream 

“Curl Cream is one of my top sellers in my salon. Get beach hair with its definition without weight, frizz and humidity control—all with a non-sticky feel! It also creates beautiful, bouncy curls and blowouts,” Carrie says.

How to use it: 

Apply a nickle- to quarter-sized amount onto damp hair.  First emulsify it with your hands and then scrunch the product in an upward motion. Diffuse for maximum volume or keep scrunching it in as it air dries.

4. So Pure Moroccan Argan Oil

“Sometimes sun, salt and sand can take the luster and moisture out of your hair. So Pure Moroccan Argan Oil is perfect to cocktail with any styling product to nourish dry hair and to add tons of shine. It comes in two formulas: normal for thick and coarse hair types and Light for fine hair types,”Carrie explains.

How to use it: 

Add a pea- to dime-sized amount to damp or dry hair. Cocktail or layer over it with any curly hair product for added shine and moisture.

5. Care Line 2-Phase Spray

“2-Phase spray is the No. 1 seller in my salon. Not only is it a great leave-in conditioner, detangler and heat protectant, but it also tames frizz and locks out humidity, which is a big priority to any curly girl or guy. It is the perfect product to put in your beach bag to refresh your hair after a dip in the ocean or pool,” Carrie advises.

How to use it: 

Spray three or five sprays onto damp hair focusing on the mid-lengths and ends.
